Company ethos

Legacy & Values

As a mum to a young son, legacy is never far from my mind, so building a company that prioritises doing the right thing, for the right reasons, is the foundation of Aurelian Developments’ ethos.

Because integrity is at the core of everything we do, we believe that relationships matter. Treating people well matters. Being a good role model for my son matters more than anything, which is why everyone I work with is treated with the same honesty and respect that I’d want people to show him. Perhaps that’s overly idealistic, but I’m teaching him to be the change we want to see in the world, which is why this is the foundation of Aurelian Developments’ values.

Aurelian means 'golden,' and I see this as a golden age for a new breed of developers with high ethical standards.

For decades, landowners were at the mercy of unscrupulous developers who offered commercially unviable high sums to “hook” a landowner’s interest, only to be let down when “surprisingly” the numbers didn’t add up, and the offer was lowered. Often leaving them with less than another honest developer would have offered upfront. Playing with people’s emotions and toying with their dreams for the future is not OK, and it’s not something I’d ever do.

Aurelian means “golden” and it’s my mission to do things differently. To treat people well. Behave with honesty and integrity - the very qualities I’m raising my son to have.

Working with me

I work hard with my planning team, who look closely at what is realistically achievable for a sympathetic, sustainable development on any plot we’re considering, enabling me to offer well-considered, realistic price ranges that manage expectations from the start, so that landowners can make informed decisions.

We consider how many homes are feasible for the plot, resale values and the multitude of costs of obtaining planning and ultimately building them. This allows us to see what the land itself is worth commercially to a developer. If the numbers add up, that’s amazing, as I love to help landowners unlock the value of their land. But if the numbers don’t align, or don’t align right now, that’s OK too. There will never be any pressure from me to do something that isn’t aligned with your goals.

Whilst planning departments have the final say on what can be built, given a free rein, our mission when building homes is to create homes that people want to live in and that existing residents enjoy having on their doorstep.

Intentional, well-designed sites with thoughtful, practical details that complement their surroundings form the basis of site and property design decisions, as these will be family homes and quality matters.

Enhancing the surroundings and doing the land justice, particularly when building around villages (I live in one myself!) is another driving priority - doing the right thing is always the right thing!
